CRYSTAL MCCLUNG

OWNER & MASTER STYLIST

I found my passion at a young age when I had the opportunity to take Cosmetology in High School. Now 13 years later, I find myself blessed to have a loyal and cherished list of clients. I have been fortunate to have worked under some of the most talented stylists in the business. I have worked in several wonderful salons, learning something new from each one. Along with my duties as a stylist, I have been involved in all aspects of management of a salon such as team building, mentoring, ordering product, promotion/advertising, event planning and education. For four years I had the opportunity to work with a local TV breakfast show (Edmonton Breakfast Television) where I appeared once a week to share my knowledge on various topics related to hair/makeup design. Over the years I have taken advanced training with TIGI and Davines, participating in conferences and academies all over the world in fashion meccas such as; New York, Barcelona, Venice, Amsterdam, Berlin, Las Vegas, as well as locally here in Edmonton. These ‘hands on opportunities’ have taught me that the sky is the limit in creative pursuits and have given me the skills to provide something unique for my clients. In 2011, I competed in the Davines Style competition and came 2nd in all of Canada. Hair Styling is not just an occupation for me, it is my passion and I am anxious to create the vision I have had for my own Salon. I have learned from the best and now will use that knowledge to create something even better.

She was born in BC but has lived in Edmonton most of her life, with a 2 year stop in England after high school. In 2013 she decided to settle her family in Sherwood Park and hasn’t looked back.

KARIS Balaban

Hair Designer

I grew up in a small town, Vegreville. I was always interested in hair, my mom even had to tell the teachers to keep scissors away from me in kindergarten. I started hair school right when I finished high school so I was still 17 when I started my training. I started my hair career at Est Elle Academy in 2011 and my first salon in Edmonton where I learned a lot about the importance of clean ingredients and the impact we have on the environment in the hair industry. I’ve also worked at a high end salon on Whyte Avenue where I took an extra 8 months of advanced haircutting education. I really grew my technique and learned a lot from the salon and about my style as a hair designer. I decided to start working on my own and really learned a lot about myself and my clients on a more personal level building trust and what it really means for people to have a great hair experience all around. I’m so grateful for all my experiences in my hair career and feel like I have such a great well rounded environment for me to be my very best in all aspects of my career at Cherish Hair Design. My favourite things to do are cutting all types of bobs and giving people transformation colours. I love being able to look at someone and know exactly what their hair is missing to bring it to life! If I’m not at work, you can catch me at my local spin studio dancing it out on the bike or at home with my fur baby watching some good reality TV.

CRYSTA McArthur

Crysta

Nail Technician

I was born and raised in a very small town in northern BC, my passion for the aesthetics all started in a day spa in my hometown as a receptionist. At the age of 17 I had the privilege of taking a dual credit aesthetics program in Dawson Creek, getting credits towards my high-school diploma as well as obtaining my aesthetics license. In 2012 I started my own business venture as a sole-proprietor, I’ve worked in a 3 hair salons and one day spa, I have taken away pieces of advice, techniques and success from each person I’ve had the opportunity to work with. I love the creativity and evolvement of the beauty industry, there is always room to grow and pursue more knowledge. When I’m not behind the desk, I enjoy all things outdoors, traveling, hiking, biking, running, gym and nutrition. You have to nourish to flourish!
